Toys for Tots
The MTA's (Military Transport Association) Toys Train will be collecting toys for the Marine Reserves “Toys for Tots” program through New Jersey during the first two weeks of December. Picatinney is now the third largest toys storage in the country for this program. The train will make three runs through north Jersey and southern New York State. Santa will be on the train, as well as current U.S. Marines who will disembark for photo ops. There will be a stop in Rockaway at the Potbelly Cafe on December 9th from 9 - 10 am if you would like to donate toys on that date. In addition, you can bring new, unused, and unwrapped toys to the church on either Sunday November 5th or 12th for our first train run on December 2.
You can check the schedule for any changes in dates or times at www.operationtoytrain.org.

Confirmation Class began with an information session on Sunday, October 29th. The philosophy at Union Hill recogizes Confirmation as a point along the journey, a learning experience, and a time to explore one’s faith. No one who participates needs to feel pressured to join the church at the end of the experience.
The students will once again be seeking Covenant Partners to walk alongside them in the journey. Please pray about whether or not you would be willing if you are asked. If you are asked and feel you cannot take on the
commitment, please let them down gently! Covenant Partners meet with their Confirmand about 1-2 times per month throughout the school year, attend the dinner celebration at the end of the year, and stand with them at the worship service on the final weekend. They are to serve as their advocate and mentor, and as a liaison between the youth and the pastor if needed.

Operation Christmas Child Project 2017
The Sunday School students and coordinator Jane Sassaman packed 50+ shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child on Sunday, October 29th. The congregation donated $186 towards the cost of shipping and supplies! We will try and track our boxes as we have done in the past to see where they end up! For more information about the ministry please visit www.samaritanspurse.org
