Welcoming Our New Minister Timothy W. Clarkson

The Pastoral Search Committee (John Ware, Patty Bevacqua, Andreas Harnisch, Alice Belcher, Jennifer Berk, Jack Killmeyer and Joanne Killmeyer) for Union Hill Presbyterian Church interviewed several pastors for our part time (50%) Pastoral Supply position. A choice was made and the Session approved hiring Tim Clarkson. Tim’s official start date will be 10/1/17. Since we have called Tim to be our Pastor at UHPC, he will be ordained by the Newton Presbytery on October 8, 2017. His ordination will be held at the United Presbyterian Church, Flanders (his home church) and Union Hill is invited. Immediately following Tim’s ordination in Flanders there will be a short reception for attendees, and that evening there will be a dinner celebration at Union Hill Church to which all are invited. Please watch for additional details including RSVP information.

Tim is a graduate of The New Brunswick Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) Theological, Biblical and Ministry Studies in May 2016. Prior to that he graduated with a Master in Social Work, Direct Practice and Casework from Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work in May 1993 and he also graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Montclair State University with a degree in Business Administration Marketing/Management, with a minor in Counseling, in May 1991.

While awaiting a call to pastor a Church he has been working full time as a licensed Clinical Social Worker at the CPC Behavioral Healthcare High Point School. Prior to that position, Tim worked as a clinical social worker for Catholic Charities Diocese of Metuchen Therapeutic Foster Care program and supervised a staff of social workers. He also provided pastoral care visitation
to all units of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, with special attention to inpatient behavioral health, oncology and crisis units.

Most of you know Tim because he has spent many Sundays filling the position of Pulpit Supply for us. The Search Committee was hearing and seeing how well he was being received as he led worship. His wife (Amy) and children (Josh, Kate and Sean) have accompanied him on several of these Sunday visits. They reside in Somerville, N.J. Tim’s interests include the love of laughter, playing guitar (which he generously shares with us as we worship) and the game of baseball.

As the Fall season begins, let us all give Tim and his family a BIG warm welcome to Morris County and Union Hill Presbyterian Church. The Pastoral Search Committee and the Elders ask for your prayers for God’s guidance as we move forward together.
